PC acting erratically... HELP

You didn't listen the first time, so I am almost thinking about not helping this time.

YOU HAVE TO REINSTALL YOUR OPERATEING SYSTEM WHEN INSTALLING A NEW CPU!!!

You are confusing your OS by switching processers without a reinstall and thats why its crashing. The loud beep you hear when you start the computer is called a beep code. It means that there is a problem iwth your CPU. Usually a CMOS reset will fix that. HOWEVER AGAIN YOU MUST REINSTALL XP TO GET A NEW PROCESSER TO WORK CORRECTLY!!!!! Reinstalling the sim is going to do absolutely nothing. Just backup your hard drive, and reformat.

It really isn't that hard.

Sorry to scream, but it did get you to finall listen

On a happier note. The reason its screwing up is because your registry isn't sure which CPU entry its suppost to be looking at. There are now three there and it can't figure out which one it wants.

The beeps are infact beep codes. They differ from motherboard to motherboard, and pulling the plug was probibly enough to bleed off extra power in the motherboard and right a power surge somewhere in the board.

As for your comment about hateing MS, you have to do the same thing when you upgrade a CPU in Linux, free BSD or even OSX. GPUs and RAM are easy to replace, because their roles are easily reasigned, but something like a CPU or motherboard is too large of a factor for the system to just  "get used to."

FS9 was crashing your comp because you were running 100% CPU useage and the comp was too confused with the CPU that it just shut itself down.
