Si_Combat is not Happy...

Postby Si_Combat » Wed Jan 10, 2007 12:11 pm

Hi guys...
For those of you that remember my last post regarding a monitor upgrade, you might be interested to know that I'm a tad upset... well... skonking furious in fact. Not with the decision on monitor choice but over the way it arrived... :(
1. The packaging was torn and the box inside was damaged...
2. The supplier (in France), supplied me with a 3pin plug adaptor to convert the two pin Euro supplied...
3. They (Pixmania) had opened the box, removed the monitor and set the plug adaptor in the bottom of the box (Pins UP)...
4. They then set the monitor back into the box, face down, ON TOP of the 3pin plug adaptor's pins...
5. Re-sealed the box and shipped it off to me...
6. I took delivery of it this morning and had to yell my grievance at the courier for first dropping it (2ft) and, to add insult to injury, then spun the box over to check the delivery label making it land hard onto the floor for a second time... His words to me where "Ach... sure these things are well packaged these days..." and then winked and left...

That's bad luck mate.. At least they're going to refund you, it could have been a LOT worse.
And I was going to buy my new digital camera from Pixmania... thanks for the heads up.
Keep us informed.
Rob.

Wow, you are really unlucky.  sorry to hear about the trouble.  That is why I usually by an LCD monitor in store because I do not want to risk damaging one during shipping. ;)

:-? I would have refused the delivery if I hadn't already signed for it at the back of his lorry  :-[ ... I was keen to take delivery of my new monitor so I dandered out to meet the DHL Courier, sign for it and carry it back indoors myself BUT the bleedin' work phone rang and I had to dash back in to answer it. Meanwhile Mr.DHL thought he would do me a favour and bring to in to me but dropped it just in through the door... Then he realised he had to check the delivery label... He never even apologised... THE BANDIT...!!! >:(
I figured the damage was done so I opened it anyway just to check it... If the 3pin plug adaptor issue had not been a factor I'd have powered the unit up to test it...

I don't understand why most couriers have such disregard for items they agree to deliver the moment they sign their contract, be it employed or self employed. These items ensure these Dudes a flippin' job... I know of only a few drivers who actually give a damn about their cargo only to have their cautious efforts FUBARed by careless warehouse (or Hub) workers...  :-/

I agree with Viper22... I should have done just that mate... but I was impatient and greedy... Everywhere here (N.Ireland) was out of stock of just about all good TFT monitors and I, like a spoiled child, wanted one NOW... and as fate would have it I'm still without a new monitor and the N.Ireland stores are beginning to be re-stocked...

Conclusion: "I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON"  :P ;D

The Dell 22" just hot off CES. I've already returned my Samgsung, and ordered one. Better monitor and $100 less. YAY!
