C.H. and recomendations -FSX

Postby SkyNoz » Tue Oct 10, 2006 5:06 pm

Okay, since I have all the important hardware that I'm currently running, I though that this may be a good time to ask for updates only the video card though .. For FSX, goal: to achieve atleast full diplay options and run 25 and higher FPS, Budget lol : less then $500

So here we go folks.

Intel S47B motherboard $ Processor

Processor = "Intel Celeron CPU 2.66GHz or 2.67GHz

1.00GB RAM

AGB MATX S775 GBT 661FX

gaming card : FX5500 256M TD AGP N313-LX EV

Powersupply : Apex 300W PS BK I think.. 8)

:-/ :(

Just no. All I can say is just no. Your current setup would bottolneck any card capable of achieveing that standird. You would need to grab a E6300 Conroe + P695 Motherboard + 7900GTO + 2GB of RAM to achieve what you want. Look at what I'm running and I barely get 20FPS over land. Your going to need more than $500 to max out FSX. Personally I would start with the processer / motherboard and RAM. Grab a E6300 and motherboard, and a 2GB kit of OCZ DDR2-800 for starters. Then when the G80 and R600 cores are launched buy one of them.

Cheers

What cameron was saying is this, If you try to add a fancy Graphics card your system will bottle neck it, and secondly, its AGP....... this is the age of PCI-E I am afraid... So I doubt you'll ever come close to maxing out FSX even on the best of AGP cards.... save that 500 up to about 1500 or more and then come back and ask for what kind of rig you can put together  ;D Sorry man, but save yourself the disapointment, and the loss of money to find out that it wont work!

Cheers, Gunny

Buy a Intel 965? Mobo
Atleast 1gb of RAM
Core 2 duo E6300
X850XT preferably 7900GS or 7950GT.

There is no way you can run FSX on a Celeron. You need at least a AMD X2. Prefably Conroe.

I would save money for a brand new system because it is not worth upgrading your current one.

Its been said before, and I will say it again. The best card you can put in that system without a massive bottleneck is going to be a 6600GT. Possably a X850 if your willing to overclock. But in reality along with FS9, FSX is going to be increadably hard on your whole system, not just your GPU.

Also let it be known that not a single AGP card has been slated by nVidia or ATi. Its a dead socket. Get over it.

Thanks for the info Cameron, jus one more ques. which one is better in performance a X850XT or a 7800's cards. I'm not sure that my Board will be compatible with a X850. because that was the route I was going to take at first. :)

Nope, not PCI-E, but AGP And go with the X850. Though the 7800 is nice, its pricy, and the G70 will bottleneck.
