new comp, with some problems

Postby Viper22 » Tue Oct 10, 2006 8:47 pm

So, I have finally got my new computer together, but it still has some issues.  For a while, I had alot of problems with high temps and my heatsink, but it finally started to level off at 40 degree core temps for my cpu while idle.  But, then I boot up FS9, and my temps shoot up to almost 70!  And they stay at 60 after that. Yikes.  I'm not a big fan of the intel heatsink and fan that comes with the conroes.  Also, my board has great onboard sound, but it is not enabled, and when I try to play a game it says no sound card detected.  How do I go about enabling this?

BTW this is my comp

Did you put some heatsink paste between the processor and the heatsink?

For the sound issues, try going into the device manager, removing then "re-installing" the card. It should auto-detect.

First off, your processer temps look about right for a stock cooled Intel. Their heatsink designs are the worst in the biz. Grab a Zalman and some Artic Silver 5.

Second off, did you try enableing your sound card? Like going into sound settings and configuring it by hand?

Are you serious? I though the Conroes run at cool 40 degees even on stock heatsinks.

You have onboard audio and it is not working? Enable it in the BIOS, and then install the drivers and it should be fine.

Eh?! 60-70C is not right at all! The Conroes are cool little things and idle temps should be 30-40C.

Try reseating the heatsink ;)

Yeah I've fixed my heatsink, but I still haven't figured out how to enable my onboard sound.
