well, is it smooth? and explain what the problem is, because to me it sounds like you just want framerates and not smoothness..... Cheers, Gunny

I upgraded last year from an XP2500 to a 64-3000; drug along an AGP 9800pro256.. similar results.

The XP2500 actually ran FS9 better than the 64-3000..

I wasn't expecting a performance increase (clock speeds and L2 cache are about the same), but I did want to experiment with a 64-bit cpu. It was an expensive waste of time and money and prompted me into the stop-gap upgrade (something to hold me over until Vista and FSX are both out)..  64-3700 (1mb L2 cache) and a Nvidia7800GT..  THAT upgrade worked out well..

No thats also the point the fps go from 1\15.18 and the image is always stoping. The settings i had with the old system was my base to start "tunning" this one.By logic if we upgrade we must have a increse in performance (fps) right but no its worst now.
Many thanks

Well the 7600 isnt a fantastic card...... 6600s can run FS at medium to medium high settings, I personally think going with the 7600 was a mistake..... I've ran 6200s, and 7300s, and they both arent great, and I do believe the 7600 has only 8 or 12 pipes..... Cheers, Gunny

EDIT: Keep the card until DX10 and Vista.... thats only 2-4 months..... I havent flown much FS in over a year because of cheap graphics cards!

7600GT is a good card, and should be enough for FS9.

I have a similar system:

Abit AN8 32X
3800 X2
6600GT
1GB PC3200 2-3-2-6-T1 Dual Channel RAM

I can keep a steady frame rate lock on 25 fps. However, I didn't max everything out.

Yes, I would use a frame rate lock because like Nick pointed out in another thread changes in frame rates can result in choppyness. For example if the frame rate suddenly drops from 40 to 25 it might might look choppy. However, if the frame rate is always at a constant 25 or 30 it will be smooth.

I have everything maxed except:

Traffic 75%

Autogen: Dense
Add-on dynamic scenery: Normal
Ground scenery casts shadows unchecked

Sight Distance: 60mi
Cloud Draw Distance: 40mi
Detailed Clouds/Cloud Coverage Density: High

1024x768x32
Frame Rate Lock: 25
Mip Map Quality: 4
Global Texture Size: High (Because I have a 128MB card)

The rest is maxed.

Since you have a faster video card you should be able to run at higher settings however I don't know if you can max everything. Also, I did the common sense things like disabling all the background programs.

BTW exactly what kind of RAM is it? What speed and what timings and how many sticks and of what brand? 1.5GB sounds like a bad number. If you are using 3 sticks you can't use dual channel mode. Also, the RAM speed will be lower for the 3rd stick. You might be losing some speed there. Also, it is a bad idea to mix RAM. For best performance use two identical RAM sticks.

If you still got your old system, you can run benchmark programs like 3DMark05 on both systems and see how they fare.

;D ;) :o :P :-* :) ;) ;DLife is Good!!!!!
I,ve run everest and what youknow one of the dim,s was 512 pc2700 2-0-2-2-6 133 mhz and the other two are pc3200 3-0-3-3-8 200mhz.So i remove one i,ve run fs9 first i,ve locked the fps (25). And everything is smooth and good (Heathrow (and i will tell you my setup )is always between 23 and 25.

Traffic-90%
Autogen -very dense
Add-on dynamic scenery: very dense
ground scenery casts shadows -unchecked

Sight Distance:60mi
Cloud draw distance:40 mi
Detailed Clouds/Cloud coverage density-max

1024x768x32 i used to had on 1280x1024x32
Frame rate lock-25
Mip map quality-8
Global texture size:Massive

The rest is maxed
Im a happy man now YES i SEE the diference MANY THANKS YOU ALL.

MANY THANKS CHEESEGRATER
And another question if you have an Abit, do you use your AUDIOMAX does it work, because mine with the original drives (i didnt find any upgrade for them) the sound has stops specially on window start and in games you can ear what it sounds like stactic.Do you have any idea.(im using a sound blaster live ,but if you have any idea please tell me)
Once again MANY THANKS

I think I know what you mean. I had the same problem with the defualt Abit drivers. They are not up to date.

You can get updated drivers from:
