Resize & Repartition

Postby luke » Tue Oct 03, 2006 12:08 pm

Got my nickers twisted somehow! C,D,E,F,G partns.

I resized the Primary C:\ and was left with another called "Free" & next to C:\, outside the Extended area.

"Create" only accepts this as Primary. I do not want two primaries.

How can I get it in the Extended area, or any other way possible, and create it as Logical Partn. and format it. nick

Well I did something stupid before like this.... (I think) anyways try this, Start, Control panel (in classic view if you have XP) Admin tools, Comp management, storage, disk management! Then play around with it a little..... I think you can correct that mistake, Cheers, Gunny

For best efficiency you ideally dont want ANY partitions on your OS drive. Also install FS9 onto this drive not a partitioned one.

Only partitions drives that will be used for storing stuff such as vids, pics, music etc.

Thanx all, had to wipe clean the HD with "fdisk" and start again with 32mb partitions on FAT 32.

The last one I left unformated and after I installed Xp then installed Linux "Ubuntu", which found the empty space and created one partion for itself & one for its Swap file.

First time on Linux, what a surprise without the problems and tribulations of MS.

After installation, network, its own OE, IE, Fax you name it worked without any intervention. I am posting this from Linux. If only it had a FSim!.     luke

They say Linux by its nature is very secure from virouses.

If it is so and if one could switch to windows for fs9 without rebooting I would use it for everything else.

Is fast and easy to get used to.            luke
