Finally a New computer!

Postby Gunny04 » Mon Sep 11, 2006 5:42 pm

Yep My old one was dead, I am back........ again.... The new Computer is an Acer, havent heard of the brand but for 593 dollars out the door with a 19 inch LCD Widescreen monitor this is what I have

AMD Athlon 3800 64 bit socket 939
1 Gig DDR 400 Mhz 3200 Ram
250 Gig hard drive in two partitions
DVD-RW/CD-RW
CD-Rom
6 USB Ports
19 inch LCD widescreen monitor (pretty sweet)
PCI-E slot for future upgrade
3 PCI Slots
and 4 ram slots.....
built in 6100 256 meg Graphics card (Ram eater) One step down from my old 6200

I know it isnt what you'd call a gaming rig but it was 600 bucks, and for the price and upgrading possibility (4 gigs max ram) PCI-E Card, PCI slot for sound card and whatever else I can add.... pretty good, also it runs 28-35C idle....... Unlike my last computer..... so I can run Vista in the future, 64 bit apps, and I didnt bite the wallet too hard, Though I am going to look into my new computer a little more and find exact specs, Cheers, Gunny, and its good to be back to the V!

The motherboard Gunny, you forgot the motherboard!

I don't understand why so many people still buy PC's without one.  :o

Oh yes, Acers. Yes I know them all too well. The first upgrade your going to need to make to that is replaceing the power dupply. They have very dodgy PSUs in them. I mean they are made by Aspire, so what do you expect.

I'm using an Acer monitor from 1998.

Not a bad computer for the price of $600.
