Bad Cpu or MB

Postby Gunny04 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 12:10 pm

Ok how do I know if I fried my processer, MB or both? When I flip my router on, and it connects, my motherboards Lan Light comes on...... But, does this mean my MB works? or did it somehow fry up when the computer died, I believe I added the Thermal grease wrong and that did the cpu in........ Cant get any display on monitor etc...... so.... is it a CPU, MB, or both? Its frustrating on these library computers.... Cheers, Gunny

If you put the thermal conductive grease wrong then it's probable you lost the CPU, but not the MB.

I'm thinking that your MB might be fine, and the CPU died. However at the same time the nBridge may be okay, but the socket is dead. Do a visual scan for any chared or melted parts around your socket. If none just the CPU is gone.

And next time make sure to apply thermal paste.
