What drivers for the card are you useing? No offence, but I have the feeling that they were installed incorrectly.

ASUS nF5 Motherboard
2GB OCZ Platnum Ed DDR2-667 (nF5 dosn't support DDR2-800)

Why the NF5, I thought the nVidia chipsets had proven less desirable by virtue of lower overclock potential?

Boca, check your Filtering, set it manually and turn it off in FS9. Try 2xq Antialiasing and 4x Anisotropic Filtering and test it, then move it up a notch and test again. Make sure it is disabled in the FS9 Settings.

Your 3500+ is one of the most Powerful CPU's available for FS9, so don't sweat that that is the problem. More like you have eighty or more hidden processes running in the background   ???

This is true, however with the link boost, you can get more bang for your graphics.

However with AMTi coming together, I'm thinking that 975x is going to start to feature SLi. So when I build, I'll take a look.

Linkboost is a gimmick, I just read a pretty good article

http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q2/am ... dex.x?pg=1

comparing the nForce 590 SLI and ATI's CrossFire Xpress 3200 chipsets.

It says that Linkboost only applies to the high end 7900GTX. Another thing I read says that the cards that would benefit Linkboost the most would be low end, and the low end cards aren't compatible. Mind you, the article is from May, so you may have newer info than  I have. A 2% performance increase isn't all that swish.

I don't see either of these chipsets as a world beater, but they are ok. I particulary like the ATI 3200 chipset because it runs nice and cool, and it is pretty much a no frills chipset, while the NF590 is hot and complex.

It is definately not the CPU in this case.

My spec is only an A64 3500 with 1gig PC3200 Corsair XMS (@10,2,2,2), Nvidia 6800Ultra (AGP card) and an MSI K8N Neo2 mobo.

My FPS rarely drop below 20with everything maxed out. I would say it is a software/driver issue or how the PC is setup.

I'm hoping with tweaking and re-optimising my system that i will get FSX working smoothly too (once I download it)
