Router Ports

Postby Santaclauseee » Mon Jun 26, 2006 7:36 am

First off sorry admin, I don't have a clue where to put this.

Right well my problem isnt that important really, just an annoyance, on MSN Live Messenger the avators of other people do not show, and connecting webcams is slow and very unreliable - at best. I think this is a problem with my wireless router's firewall, but having made it allow any port to transmit and recive it still didn't work, yet when i went through and added some of the ports I know from Tweak XP's port monitor msn uses, it work for a moment, then went back to normal. If anyone can help it would be of great help.
My Wireless Router is - NETGEAR 108Mbps ADSL Router DG834GT and I use ZoneAlarm Security Suite.

Kind Regards

To test if it's a firewall issue, turn the router FW and zonealarm off and see if the problem persists, a re-boot without the firewalls perhaps.

Some ISP's block certain ports, ask your ISP as well what ports (if any) they block.
