939 compared with AM2

shows that when using the same speed grade cpus (3500+) that AM2 is slower than 939 in almost all benchmarks.
5900xt/2800+/280GB/1GB PC3200/Cyborg Evo Force/ABIT NF7
Gpu clock: 475mhz core, 800mhz mem
CPU at: 12.5x175 = 2187.5
memory: 2.5, 3, 3, 8 Duel channel on
Os: windows xp pro, ubuntu 5.10 breazy badger

PS: Im sure AM2 will be faster than 939 when the "full potential" has been released.

Well AM2 is faster than 939 but only becuase you can buy higher speed grade cpu's for AM2  ::)

I am rearly starting to wonder why AMD bothered switching to DDR2 it seems to offer very little advantage even at higher speed grades.

To keep sales up is why, I've already heard the ignorant noises made by some regarding the old fashioned AMD rigs with standard DDR ram. AMD would lose a few sales to that rhetoric.

Also, AM2 paves the way ahead, Socket 939 is great, but close to it's limit.
