What is a "plug-in?"

Postby rootbeer » Fri May 05, 2006 1:13 pm

I see this on some websites. What is a plug-in? What is it for? Do I need to "click here to download plug-in?" I'd rather not unless I really need to do so...

I'm confused.

for flash you need the macromedia plugin, for .mov's you need the quicktime plugin, for PDF's yo need the adobe plugin. plugins are min-programs that handle certain types of files.
