There is nothing wrong with the case you chose at all Caveman, I was merely pointing out the fact that cases are over rated as far as "requirement" because anything will do really.

I was responding to the suggestion that the RAM be compromised while retaining a $100 PC case, which doesn't make good sense to me, but, different people have different priorities.

This PC is going to cost you a good deal, and I would buy the case that YOU really like if money is not a serious barrier. Any case will do, if you like purple, get a purple one.  

I personally like some of the fancy aluminium cases with all the whistles and bells but I wouldn't buy one when I need a better video card, you see?

As far as fans go, ANY case is going to cause some heat buildup unless the side covers are off, so....... just get what you like and if it gets hot in summer, just pull a cover off until the weather cools a bit. No hassle at all really.

I've used a couple "fancy" cases, for myself and others.

About 4 years ago.. I picked up a no-name case at a garage sale for 10 bucks 'cause it had a 450 watt power supply (which is still in one of my computers).

It's a no-frills, 18" tower and a bit clunky and heavy (more steel than aluminum and it's ALL a much heavier gauge than I've ever seen). It's also still my favorite case, as the M/B tray (back panel and all) slides on rails out of the case. It's a breeze to mount CPUs, M/Bs, RAM on.. and then slide it back in. I wouldn't part with it for $200 and would gladly spend more than that to replace it.




My next computer is going to be case-free. I'll mount the components ON/IN/UNDER the desk.. That should be interesting
