Ok I got this instead

Postby candle_86 » Tue Mar 07, 2006 11:24 pm

I talked to my mom and got her to get me somin i think will preform better :D

AMD XP 2800 Barton
Chaintech JNJL4 Nforce 2 400
Nvidia 6600 Vanillia
512mb DDR333
80gb Maxtor
52x32x52 CD-RW
16x DVD

I still am selling my P3 for another 512mb of DDR to bring this to a gig, what do yall think, will this run FS9 at mid to high. I know it should play my other games aka HL2, CSS, COD2, FC quite well.

It should run FS on mid settings. The world textures can probibly be all the way up, but the wether, and AI you should turn on only about half to three fourths.

Another thing, why are you getting really outdated tech. The XP series dont run 64Bit processes, and your looking at a socket A system running a AGP Mobo? Seriously money may be tight, however a
X64 3200+
1GB of RAM
6600GT
WD 80GB
ASUS 939 PCI-e board
DVD/CD+- RW
will together run about $650 and will preform wonders over what you want to build. Dubble the price for dubble the speed, and this system will have room for the future. Once AM2 comes out, A is going to be very hard to find as it will be a 4th gen slot. Also AGP isnt dead yet, but should be. Half arsed preformance for only about $20 less? I dont think so.

well the fact my mom is getting it for 200 might have somin to do with it. Its a big sale at one of the local shops. If i had the money id get somin better. But I will OC that XP chip to about 2.4ghz, get the ram up to DDR400, and oc the vid card and tighten timings, yad be suprised how fast it will run with that.

O/Cing is one thing. The fact that you are buying outdated interfaces is something else that can't be changed though. However have fun with the new system, god knows you need it. Oh ya and dont paint this one ;)

I'm running a 2500+ Barton overclocked to 3200+ with an AGP X850XT. I can play FS9 quite smoothly with all sliders maxed with 6x AA / 16x AF.

With the 9800pro I had, I could run med-high settings pretty good. The 6600 will be close to that performance. For $200, it should be quite a nice system from what you had.

actully the 6600 is a PNY Verto and I had one just like it, 256mb of DDR, had that thing oced crazy, over 3000 3d marks on 05. A 9800XT cant touch what I do. This time I'm gonna tweak the timings also, time to get out my zalman VF700cu :D
