i can relate....

i recently bought a PS2 (hey im not a gamer, much less a heavy gamer). my router was upstairs, and my computer is 5 feet away. So i strung a 45ft cable from upstairs (i'm in a networking class, so i build my own custom network cables)

now the thing i havent tried is wiring a network cable from my PS2 to my Computer's LAN port. cause i thought i heard something about this, you can piggyback a device onto a PC for internet. i havent tried it though, so don't quote me on this.

Your intended configuration lacks enough specific detail.

I'm assuming you mean:

internet -- wirelss router-- PC1 hardwired to router -- PC2 wirlessly connected to router -- xbox hardwired to PC1......

I'm assuming also that you want the XBox on the internet and not just LAN to PC1, correct?

I'm not familiar with XBox networking, however I doubt it would work unless you can configure internet connection sharing from your PCno.1 to the XBox (?)

I thought the correct config would be:

I agree with Congo, and would add that you might try running ipconfig /all to make sure the Xbox is "seen" on the system it's hardwired to first.  Then note the mac address. If you can't pull up an IP on the Xbox, chances are good that you won't be able to add it to the network.

If you get a good IP from the Xbox, (depending on your wireless router brand and setup), the mac address might have to be added to the mac address filtering table in the router to allow network access as a peripheral device. At least, this has worked for me on a couple of occasions with non standard devices.  Router make, model, OS type information would be helpful too.

Good luck
Mick
