An old 2 lever throttle control.

Postby Gary R. » Tue Jan 31, 2006 5:30 pm

A couple of years ago I bought a Suncom Strike Fighter throttle control off the specials rack at Electronics Boutique.  When I opened it up and saw it required clunky through the keyboard port connection to set up and program I put it back in the box and have rarely taken a second look at it since.  Now, I know XP will recognize it as a 2 axis controller and so will FS, I already tested that functionality out. My question is this and I hope there are enough PC old timers around that might know.  Since I have to link the controller up through my keyboard to program the buttons does that mean it will need to stay connected through the keyboard during use or is that connection only necessary when programming the macros?.  The docs say it has on-board memory so I would think once programmed it would only need to be hooked up to the gameport or USB-16 pin adaptor.  Anyone out there have any experience with this sort of peripheral??

Thanks
Gary
