Digi Cam for <

Postby Dan » Sun Jul 03, 2005 1:42 pm

I am thinking of getting a proper camera instead of using my phone (Nokia 7250i) all the time! Thing is I wan to take it out when I go with my mates, so I don't want to spend so much on it it means the earth if I lose it or it gets nicked!

So I'm thinking - A good many Mega Pixels, 3? At least 2 or maybe 3X optical zoom. Digital zoom is not a concern, I can do that in Irfranview! And it must have a screen! It would be nice to have a movie mode, and memory upgrade ability!

What's the best thing to spend my money on?
Dan  ;)

EDIT: I'm leaning towards the OLYMPUS Camedia C-370 Zoom.

Any opinions?

You could always look at this, it would seem to be what you're after:

Arianet VC3250 5.0M CMOS Camera

It's about halfway down the list, but look quick, the offers change daily.   :)

Things to look for:

1.  OPTICAL zoom.  Ignore the digital zoom number completely.  The bigger the OPTICAL zoom number, the better.

2.  Memory card slot.

3.  A recharging/printer dock will be a GREAT investment.  It'll cost a little more, but you'll more than make up for it in battery cost.

4.  Variable flash settings.  (Quite handy.)

5.  Lots and lots of MegaPixels.  The more MP the better.  My wife uses a 3.2 and it takes absolutely FANTASTIC photos.  The largest we've printed with it is 8 1/2 x 11 and there's no visible pixelation.

This should get you headed down the right path.  If you've got any questions, just ask!
