TWO MONITORS

Postby fly » Mon Sep 20, 2004 6:59 pm

G,day all   AM thinking of getting a second monitor and would like to ask which type is the best (CRT or LCD)  Intend using existing LCD for radios/throttle etc.Have had some problems with this LCD  as I also use it to view DVD`s which are very dark if  not sitting at desk(sitting in lounge chair and viewing from a lower angle)Is this viewing angle problem peculiar to all LCD`s?If so I probably should get a CRT for the second monitor?Any comments suggestions greatly appreciated..Regards FLY

I have found that with a LCD, not only do you have the problem of darkness at an angle, but you will have a ghosting effect in games or as for us in the sim.

By ghosting I mean there is a shodow following the plaine, most notably on turns or when the background is less dense.

My advice would be to stick to a CRT, prefferably with a flat screen

Have a look at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ ... rs_66.html for good monitors. For a budget I know the first one is good, or take a look at the IIyama Vision Master Pro 514 22" CRT. Some 'budget' for that!

I'd use a CRT set up for this, two LCDs would be excessively expensive.
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
GeForce FX5200 256Mb
1GB DDR400 DC
Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they
