Video Card?

Postby mikebigtoe » Wed Jul 07, 2004 12:54 pm

Hello All,
I have a new Asus P4 MB witha 3.2 gig CPU and 512 mb of ram. I am looking at getting a new video card. What is the best Video card for around $100 bucks or less that runs good with FS9?
Thanks,
Mike

Specs like that and you want to skimp on your card?  lol  For that price range, I'd think the FX5200 is what you're in search of.  It should run beautifully on that system.  Can't wait to see screens!
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

I was thinkin that too Hyperion.  You got a nice spec PC there and you only wanna spend $100 on a g/card  :'(  If its all you can afford go with what Hyperion says as I dont think there is much other choice.

If you could try save up some more and get a 9800pro or summin they have come down in price a fair bit though I dunno how much they are in the States but I would guess about $200-$220.  This would compliment your other specs far nicer.

Just curious what vid card do you currently have? or is your new system not running until u have this new card?

For about $20 USD more I would highly recommend the FX5700 256MB...

It continues to perform flawlessly on my system...:-)

Thanks guys,
I was running an older nvidia 32 mg on my old system (An 866) But this new board has built in video and flight sim doesn't like it. It says its not compatible and turns off the 3D. Due to being off work for the next couple of months for surgery recovery I am limited on my funds. Thats why the $100 or less.
Thanks again guys!!

I agree with Jared, the FX5700 has been getting good reviews. http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/130/1/

http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphi ... index.html

The second page shows some benchmarks of various modern cards. Don't base your decision on those. Benchmarks I find are often inacurate.

The FX5200 is a good card too. Handles great in FS2004 and does well on games like Far Cry too.
