don't know...

p.s: which memory do you have? PC2100 (DDR 266) or PC 2700 (DDR 333)?

Ok, my CPU clock is set at 166 MHz and my multiplier is at auto. WinXP still sees it as the same.

OK Andrew, try looking in the power section of your BIOS setup and set the multiplier to manual.... 13.5. You may also need to change a dip switch setting to go manual.

Don't worry, you're quite safe to do so AS LONG as your motherboard is rated for this processor. Check first.

eg Silent Exploder's mother board is a great board - just got rid of 2 old PCs with the same one - but it IS NOT suitable

Also check that you're running with at least a 350watt power supply. I had a 300W with my old PC with the 8KHA+ board when I upgraded to my 2600+ cpu and it blew. Remember my disaster story a few months ago?

a) the KHA+ is even rated for a 2800+ ,BUT you'll need PC 2700 ram for running the CPU with FSB 166 (that's my prob. need to buy new RAM).

b) mine hasn't blown yet and i've got "just" a 300W power supply. i think the cause for the accident with your board was either a manufacturing failure or a mistake while you put the CPU on it.

I'm running 512 MB of PC2100 DDR RAM

The mobo I've got is the plus version of the 8RDA3

I'll try changing the power setting to 13.5 and see what happens. Btw, what FSB frequency should it be set at?

leave it at 133. i don't think your RAM is able to handle 166,mine doesn't,too.

hint: go,buy some PC2700 RAm for running the CPU at mx. speed. gotta do this, too.
