My Radeon video cards and TrackIR5 haven't been getting along for a while. It's an OpenGL problem. The video card drivers would keep TrackIR from loading.
I had given up and was working with an older video card driver for about 6 months so I could use the TrackIR software..
Now, thanks to Naturalpoints' new driver for TrackIR5 everything is working very well indeed.
When I first received my TrackIR5 I had a very bad problem with motion sickness. And I mean VERY BAD. I wanted to send it back after using it for less than 2 hours.
If you have the same problem change the "Motion Control" Speed from 1 to .2 or .3 until you get used to it. Over time you can bump it up a point or two. I leave my setting on .6 for general flight. If you like some of the combat flight games the TrackIR would be an absolute necessity.
If my TrackIR5 ever died I would have to immediately replace it. I would rather give up my yoke and go back to a cheap joystick than give up my TrackIR.
For anyone thinking of getting one, take a tip from me - DON'T get the version with the "TrackClip PRO". That's the one that has 3 LED’s on a boom that attaches to a headphone set. You don't get any improvements over the hat clip (the TrackClip). And the USB cable dangling from the side of your head is a real pain.
There are other solutions, some free, but I don't know anyone who has tried them with any success.
