Computer help

Postby Ltd.Adrian » Tue Mar 19, 2013 4:12 pm

Hi guys, I'm new here. I need help with FSX. I don't really know what is happening. So I was installing FSX on my new pc, i followed everything. When i started i flew for about 2 hours until i decided to stop. The next day I used FSX, I put some addons, like some 737s, Cessna airplanes, and some Cirrus. I started flying then about 5 minutes later it made a "fatal error" and its been about 3 - 4 weeks that its been happening.

Here are my computer specs. Im not a computer genius, so i ask help.
---------------------

Processor--Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q2800 @2.33GHz 2.34GHz
Installed memory--6.00GB
System-- 64-bit OS, Windows 8
Hard drive memory-- 700GB
Model--Dell Studio 540
Display adapter-- ATI Radeon HD 3400 series (i know this is crap but im gonna upgrade this soon)
and i have DirectX 10.1

--------------------

Please help me. :violin:

Don't know if this'll help;

Start up FSX, but don’t fly.
Goto SETTINGS on the left side. Click on CUSTOMIZE.

SETTINGS - DISPLAY will pop up. Look to the right under [Global options].

Is there a check mark in the box next to Preview DirectX 10? If so, un-check it.

If that was un-checked find a program that reports the heat in your system. Look for excessive heat for the CPU, GPU, stopped fans, etc.

HWMonitor is a good free program from CPUID if your motherboard didn't already come with one.

Good luck.

The only thing you haven't quoted in your computer specification, is the size of the Power Supply Unit (PSU), quoted in "Watts"...?

It may be of insufficient size (Watts) to supply all your (FSX, etc) needs, without overheating, and shutting down the system!

I'm also on some kind of heat problems.
Try and air blow dust out.

Another thing, you could try to delete those addons you've installed and see what happens.
If fsx runs, then add 'em one by one to nail down a problem.
