Says one person's opinion.
Well, in that case it's not really "one person's opinion" but more like an actual comparison based on users feedback over all major forums (not counting my own experience).
Better in what regard?
All, as written previously. Physics, graphics, ATC, weather engine etc...
FSX is 2006 tech, and you're comparing it to what XPlane version?
To the current XPlane version, which is XPlane 12 obviously. A user wondering if he should consider trying XPlane today is not aiming at trying or buying and old version, but the current one, don't you think ?
The lack of airport sceneries and global sceneries was always a deal breaker for me when I compared XPlane ... in 2006.
Yes indeed, but that is an outdated comparison. Today, when comparing FSX to XPlane, you have to compare FSX Steam edition with XPlane 12. And XPlane comes with something called the "scenery gateway" which makes it include many community-created airports/airfields directly in its default scenery, which is a great thing and a nice improvement over FSX default scenery, making another reason to promote it to users who are wondering about it.
And that whole cult of personality thing gets old fast. I don't worship at the shrine of Saint Austin.
Neither do I. That won't prevent me from recognizing the strong points and advantages of his sim, though.
FSX is better for my flightsim preferences: abundant third-party add-ons and a huge selection of civilian and military planes, payware and freebies.
And this is also valid for XPlane.
