Mine is not "Freezing". It is "Stuttering" intermittently now, something that wasn't happening before this last update. It looks like a lag. Can be difficult when you are on an approach for landing and need to fine tune your aircraft.

Not had stuttering. You can be flying along when the sim will just simply lock up. Cant escape out of it. Have to CTRL-ALT- DEL and shut it down.
No set pattern of time wehn it happens. Can be 10 mins or 50 mins...........Very annoying ! ???

I haven't read anything related to such instability of the sim itself.
However, I would investigate in priority the three usual suspects:
1- the mods you might have installed in your community folder
2- the scenery cache
3- the graphic drivers (if you have an NVidia GPU)

Start by emptying the scenery cache (if activated) from your general options -> data section, if you haven't already done it. Some previously stored scenery might be incompatible.
Then proceed with emptying your community folder (just move its content to another temporary folder, so that you can move that back after your tests) and see if your sim still freezes in the same places.
Then check your GPU driver. Some versions are known to be problematic. I'm still using a very old version (457.30) and never had problems.

I was going to mention the hardware too, like some possible overheating that would make the game crash... however, I think in such a case you wouldn't be able to go back to the desktop, the whole computer usually freezes when this happens, forcing a reboot....

Thanks...... the only thing I 've not done is roll back the drivers to an earlier version.. I've also heard that Asus GPU Tweak can cause this sort of problem so will shut it down and do some more tests
Cheers :)

Hi Mick,

In my installation which is a confusing me at the moment, it's found here:
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
If yours is default microsoft store location then substitute your user name in place of NAME inn the above path.

It would be interesting to know the contents.

That's if yours is installed in the default location.
If not then at a guess it's 2 folders (directories) back from the Community folder.

My confusion at the moment is that on the last mandatory update, I ran out of room on my drive, I knew it would happen at some point so I pointed it at my D drive and it's installed the basic package and the 2 deluxe versions but it's still using the community folder from my original installation in the default C drive, mine is the microsoft store version.

regards

Steve

PROBLEM SOLVED.................after much trial and error, it turned out it was the: Change cockpit views assigned to the Hatswitch on my joystick.
Removed these assignments and no more problems
