I have a Logitech X56 HOTAS plugged in for Elite Dangerous, and I'm trying to get MSFS working with an XBox controller, but it never seems to work, the game insists on defaulting to some default X56 controller setup no matter what. Changing controller settings doesn't work, as soon as I go into a tutorial it tells me to use X56 buttons.

got an answer on reddit, I had to create new, blank, X56 controller profiles in the game and switch to them when starting, that allowed the XBox controller control scheme to "take over".
