yet again unable to fly

Just about to give up on this

WHY CAN THEY not just allow 'Install update later'?

All other programs I have. Not one insists on installing updates before use. And LOOK AT THE SIZE! 13GB!

That's at least 30mins if not a lot longer .......

30min - you're lucky! It takes me a whole day and evening each time!

I've given up on FS2020, I'm Cyberpunking now!

Still downloading ...........   :x

What is it they don't get about options to download later or in the background? :x

If I hadn't paid the money I'd uninstall this

The update process is what it is Princess, Asobo aren't going to change it just to suit you.
The rest of the world goes to flightsimulator.com, reads the latest Development Snaphot, makes a note of the forthcoming update dates and PLANS AHEAD.
Frankly, anyone who isn't capable doing of that much isn't fit to own MSFS anyway.

How does that last post have anything to do with the fact that asobo makes you download huge updates, taking some many hours, before you can use the game?

That's what this post is about

And yes if I could return it and get a refund of Asobo FS I would.

Maybe when it gets past a beta phase I'll be a happier customer

Because this is how ALL Xbox Games for PC are updated. MSFS is an Xbox Game for PC. Asobo post the due dates of their updates, highlighted in green, on the flightsimulator.com website where everyone can see them, except you apparently. If you're colourblind that's YOUR problem and no-one else's.

I seriously doubt that - and if ever a flight sim NEEDED updates, it's this one! For someone to then complain about them is just idiotic.

Guess I just read that the wrong way then. That's the problem with not talking face to face, things can get confusing.

To you and everyone here... All the best in the new year.

Since there have been sim forums and after every new release people were crying that MS didnt patch or it took to long.
Now we get regular patches and even know the exact date.
A 30 minute update is a problem but a 6 hour live sim flight is not.

My kind of flying is 30min max.
One of the small pains in real life flying is preflight checks. Important there but thankfully in FS you can skip that and get straight into the air! Or so you should be able to. As in all previous MSFS series. :D

I like a quick flight. Find a challenging or interesting location. 30m max! (wow!! 6 hours? Really? :o )
Like many, I have a busy life. Work, Family. A great g/f and other hobbies, I also like texturing aircraft for FSX and P3D, Now I'm getting into converting old models to P3D and FSX native. (& probably MSFS2020 in the future)

That's why waiting for a big download before you can 'fly' makes this such a downer.

Because MS (or asobo/whoever) do it does not mean it's a great thing! Remember MS Flight? I am sure there will be a solution eventually

Even when I am not planning to use the Sim, if I have finished using my computer, I start FS from time to time. I have caught a few updates like that. Saves a lot of waiting when you next want to fly.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
