weather cloud gone from top toolbar

I suddenly cant change the weather or time during a flight. The small white cloud is actually missing from the top toolbar.
On the dropdown menu on the right of the toolbar where you can modify which symbols you see
'weather' is off and cant be accessed.
Multiplayer is switched off but was on for a short while just to see what that was like.
Live weather is also switched off. All that is as it should be.
Somehow I seem to be locked out of the weather engine or locked in to multiplayer (which locks out the weather slider).
Has anyone seen this problem? I have looked around but apart from the usual: switch off multiplayer
(which I have) I cant find anything.
If need be, I will completely uninstall and reinstall but I am not quite sure how to do that either and remove all settings.
Is there anywhere one can register a support ticket?
Or has anyone seen this and solved it?
I am completely stumped on this one.

I have kinda resolved this although I am still not sure if this is right.
I thought my way around it and, assuming programming logic did the following:
Basically in the settings I have switched ON multiplayer and live weather
but in the flight conditions switched off players and switched to the X (groups only) and switched on live weather.
this has restored access to the in-flight weather and time of day setting.
The small white cloud is back.
I have installed the patch and am now running on 1.7.14.0
but the patch alone didnt solve the issue but does now allow proper use of Spad.Next without frame drop.
I dont really want to experiment further as I dont want to get into the same mess.
However I would be interested in reading how others have set these things.
