Padlock view problem

Postby Boink » Sat Sep 13, 2003 2:02 pm

I have a Tempest for CFS built by P H Burnage with AF99 and the viewpoint for padlock is right around where the CoG is.This puts the windscreen above and behind you so the view is blocked almost completely.Does anybody know how to change padlock viewpoint?I have AF99 but not the original afa/afx files for the plane.I also used Trevor de Stigter's mdl disassembler so I could edit the mdl,but nothing appears to be related to padlock view,(It might be there but I don't know what to look for, nothing obvious has worked). Thanks for any help

The pilot's viewpoint is defined in the AIR file. Download Bill Roth's AirEd from the Aircraft Design section (or use the FDE bundled with AF99). Open the AIR file of the Tempest & experiment with the Cockpit View entries in Section 301 Fuselage. This will take a little trial & error until you get used to it.

Yes,I did that, but for some reason it has no effect on the padlock view.I have the .air file view set pretty close to where it should be,but padlock view is still near CoG,right behind engine lol.

In that case my only suggestion is the positioning of the reference point in the visual model itself. Not sure there's much you can do about that without the original source file.

Lol,I was afraid you'd say that.I'm in the process of rebuilding the whole plane from the scasm file from mdl disassembler. The main hassle is all the points have to be divided by 152 before entering into AF99!So I was hoping there'd be a shortcut,oh well. Thanks for your help anyway.

Have you tried Andrea Cini's tools?

I think his AF Units Converter might make those calculations easier.
