CFS1 Mission Briefing Maps

I am using Keith Bedfords Mission Editor to edit and create missions outside of  Europe. Is it possible to change the Mission Briefing Maps for ones that actually represent the combat area? I have maps of the Medditeranean and Pacific regions but whilst they appear on the Mission Editor with Way Points, etc, CFS1 still loads a European Map on the mission Briefing screen.  A minor irritation but it would be nice to see Malta and not Kent on the mission briefing.

I know it's possible -- I've seen it done. I can change the overall map but then the coordinate reference needs changing.
