I think the camo works pretty well

Once you finish it, anyway (horizontal stabilizers really show at the moment).

I am working on it lol... i finished the base colors and am now working on dirt and weathering, (not to easy).. I think i am going to put shading on the bottom and "shine" on top

It's either very effective camo or the way my monitor's set up but I can hardly make out anything in your shots, especially the last one. Did you take them at night?

The camo used on the Spitfire & other RAF fighters depended on the period they were in service & the theatre they were operated in. Early Spitfires up to & includng the BoB were in the dark green & brown markings but in 1941 the brown was changed to grey. I really can't tell from your shots but the Mk IX used in Europe would almost certainly have been the later grey & green. I'm sure there were official names for these colours but I've never seen the green referred to as Forest green. http://freespace.virgin.net/john.dell/spitmark.htm

here is a bit of an update



lol i called it forest green because it is similar to the color of pine needles.....the color i should of used is "dark green" and the brown should be "dark earth" but i went with my own color  ;D

Right. I can see the last one of the second lot. It depends if this is a fictional or authentic scheme but as I pointed out earlier the Mark IX would normally be in the later grey & green colours. It did not enter service until July 1942. http://www.deltaweb.co.uk/spitfire/fite_cnt.htm

Me authentic? Nooo.... I understand that the Mk IX LF was so late in the war it was bare metal and actually had yellow on the wings... I referenced to to the IPMS Stockholm site,  ;)..... but hey if people can build star fighters and Tie fighters why cant i paint a Spitfire in the wrong colors.....  ;) I get your point.

Hagar.The colors for the spitfires were officialy named as dark green and dark earth for early models with duck egg green under sides.Dark earth and middle stone with sky blue under sides for the DAF,and darkslate grey and dark green with white uder sides for naval and PTO spitfires.ETO spits used standard slate grey and dark earth on top with a combination of whites and sky blue underneath.Hope this was helpfull.Richard
