Where can I get this "MdlDisAs" that is mentioned in the tutorial.
It gives a link, but this just causes a "Page not found" error.
Not difficult to find on Google. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/tdestig/id17.htm
It might even be posted here at SimV. Think that's where I first found it.
EDIT: I don't want any shareware/payware programs.
I Quote from my earlier post: I don't want any shareware/payware programs.
Are there any alternatives?
Either you want to do this or you don't. There might well be other similar utilities available but I've not tried them & can't suggest any. I think it's perfectly possible to use any of Trevor Stigter's utilities quite free of charge. Why not try it & see?
I would remind you that Bonzie's tute is for use with objects created with FSDS1. I'm not sure it will work with FSDS2.
It said it couldn't be used to compile.
If you read Bonzie's tute carefully MdlDisAs is only used to decompile the MDL. You don't need the compile feature. That's done with SCASM.
One other point. I'm not sure that too many people realise that anything installed to CFS2\Aircraft as a flyable aircraft can be added to the DP file of another aircraft as an "external weapon".
One example is Mauro Giacomazzi's RAF pilot. I never understood why he didn't compile it into a conventional weapons library.
Gmax is entirely free (if you have the FS2002 export plugin) and so is fsregen which is used to turn your creation into a CFS2 readable library bgl.
