4.3 Will it Run

With the upcoming release of TrueEarth Great Britain from ORBX for P3d https://orbxdirect.com/product/gbr-south-xp11 I will need to get Version 4.3 and I wondering if my computer will run it. I have a i5 2500k processor 16 gig RAM and a 4gig GTX 770 Graphics, it runs P3d Version 3 with no real problems with Playsims photo scenery and it's quite smooth, and much better than FSX SE. According to the LM website my it passes the min spec but will I get by with this setup for a while and then upgrade to a GTX 1070 at a later stage next year and overclock the 2500k to 4.3. I would be gratful for any information.

Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich,

Sorry for the slow response to your question!

Looking at your PC specs I'm not too sure that your CPU is beefy enough, do you know what generation i5 it is? Your RAM should be fine as I'm running 16gig of DDR4 myself. Upgrading to the 1070 will help too.

I would say that a Solid State Hard-drive is a must for P3D as well.

I've found the system requirements here -> https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/

All I can suggest is that Lockheed Martin offer a 60-day refund on P3D so it might be worth testing it & get a refund if you're not happy with your PCs performance? (I've had a refund & it was a painless process!) https://www.prepar3d.com/support/refundpolicy/

Hope this helps?!

Keith.

Hi Keith
Thanks for the reply, I was hoping that the processor would just about cope for a while as it only runs at about 70% with version 3. It's an i5 Sandy Bridge and dispite it's age runs Version 3 very well, much much better than it runs FSX. I'm on a very tight budget so would I get more mileage out of a better GPU (probably a second hand GTX 1060 or 1070) and then an SSD and then upgrade the CPU. I'm way out of touch these days on computer hardware.

If your CPU runs P3Dv3 well, then it will run P3Dv4 well too. I would't be too worried about that.
Your video card might become a problem though. I don't know if it's recent enough to run P3Dv4.
Also, the amount of RAM on the video card plays an important role. You'll have to be careful with the graphic settings not to overload your video card memory.

Thanks for replying, I plan on getting a GTX 1060 6gb or 1070 8gb depending on finances which I'm hoping will be enough to keep me going. I forgot to ask if the AMD cards are worth considering.
