BULLETIN ALERT

I'm just now getting wind of this, and am passing it on' !!!

From I've heard so far and SEEN on other Flight Sim Boards, the "NEW UPDATE" version of PREPAR3D 4.2 has rendered "FSUIPC useless",, which can and will cause issues with "OTHER Flight Sim SOFTWARE & Hardware that depend on FSUIPC ,,,,,,

So now, that's an issue, that will need "UPDATING by TOM of FSUIPC , yet Againnnnnn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

and theres no tellin what other issues have yet to surface with the new version of PREPAR 3D V.4 ?????

Many other Flight Sim programs may NOT work with this version of PREPAR 3D V.4,,,, some aircraft, scenery, weather programs, scenery design programs, etc.

It'll Depend on what the "Individual Flight Simmer" has in their computer , what works for 1 sim pilot, may NOT work for everybody else !!!!

NOT everybody has the same SOFTWARE installed .

FRANKLY I'm goin' to wait until " PREPAR 7D V.15.5 " Rolls out soon, and it shouldn't be too much longer, the way Lockheed Martin has been churning out updates lately the last 12-15 months.

We should be looking at Version 7D V.15.5 fairly soon !!!  :o

Don't assume , WATCH this Video - Go visit other Flight Sim Forums and read the issues other simmers are encountering with other software not working with this new version , rather it be SODE, or weather, Aircraft, Scenery etc,,,,

Again watch the VIDEO part about FSUIPC from these simmers.

This version of P3D is by far the best of Microsoft FS and derivatives saga in terms of computer requirements.
I have been running it with an i7 2,8 gHz, GTX660 and 8GB of memory and for instance I finally could fly AS Manhattan with no problems. That was not possible with FSX or P3Dx32.
Actually I have an i7 4,5Gz, GTX1080 and 32Gb of memory plus SSD. P3Dx64 runs great.

LM has decided to keep some compatibility with legacy non x64 addons that is good for simmers having a collection of addons. After having tested many of them the compatbility level is very high. From LM commercial point of view, this approach may be good but can penalize the program. IMHO in the other hand, LM P3Dx64 should be developed not needing FSUIPC.

Instead Dovetail has issued FSW with no compatibility possible althoug some legacy sceneries can be used. Bad commercial idea for veteran simmers but maybe good in terms of development of the program.

BUT, there still a lotta good Aircraft Payware and FREEWARE that will NOT work with the new update

A Few I just checked on from the actual web sites are many Captain Sim Aircraft, like the 707 & 727's and some of the others

Lionheart Creations Aircraft only work with some versions of Prepar 3D , not yet V.4.

Aeroplane Heaven Aircraft make no mention of Prepar3D on some of their Aircrafts

Lotta Just Flights Aircraft also are NOT compatible

Then theres the many sceneries that work in FSX Gold / Acceleration and the early versions of Prepar 3D, but not prepar v.4

Then theres the UTILTIES, Some weather radar packages and GPS Packages and Weather programs that aren't going to be compatible

Whatever is Now compatible with the new version Prepar3D, will it be compatible with the newer version in 6 to 12 months down the road ??? PREPAR 4D V.15.5 or Prepar 7D V.13 ???

and ya know its comin' just a matter of time,,,,,,,,,,

Really new 64 bit Sim? Then maybe nothing should be compatible.

LM has decided to keep a x32 part of the program. If your legacy addon is working or not this does not mean that the simulator is good or bad.

PMDG Recent statement on the NEW Release UPDATE of Prepar3D V.4

PMDG Issues Statement On Prepar3D V4.2 Related Issues

LINK : http://www.theskylounge.tv/topic/9618-pmdg-issues-statement-on-prepar3d-v42-related-issues/?tab=comments#comment-15022

Actual Post :

Since the release of Prepar3D V4.2, people have been keen to upgrade to take advantage of some of the new features and fixes.

Of course with any "update" with a sim "comes the risk of a product loosing compatibility". :o

Typically, decimal updates (.X) don’t cause issues with aircraft, but some users are reporting problems with their PMDG products. Today, Robert provided a brief update on the situation.

Some users are "reporting that either the screen loads black or causes a crash to desktop" (CTD).

This issue isn’t consistent among all users.

As you might imagine, PMDG has access to the beta builds of Prepar3D from Lookheed Martin, which is available to their team to ensure their products work.

During testing of V4.2, the developers reported no issues with PMDG products working.

"However", since the release of the "RTM version of 4.2", it is believed that "some things have broken" since.

For those users who have contacted PMDG’s support system has been suggested to "start the sim with a default aircraft" and change it to their preferred PMDG aircraft afterwards.

This appears to solve the issue and the aircraft then behaves normally thereafter.

As for what PMDG are doing about it, they’re first identifying where the problem lies.

"It is either an issue with Lockheed Martin’s Prepar3D 4.2" or with the aircraft itself.

If it’s PMDG products, then it’s in their control and they’ll aim to fix it with a timely fix.

"If it’s to do with V4.2, then it’ll be down to LM to fix".

PMDG has assured us that they’ll keep us informed going forward and they’re hoping to have the issue fixed soon.

User Angel commented :

It blows my mind why LM doesn't "send the updates to developers before it pushes to the public", they know who has the SDK licenses it could avoid the developer's communities from having to "scramble to push patches for broken users sims" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another User also wrote :
Yep! Apparently the last dev build they had was "different" from release. And THAT is not cool...

CONFIRMATION of Flight 1 GTN series NOT working with the NEW PREPAR3D V.4 UPDATE

Just came from the FLIGHT 1 Forum boards and the posts clearly state the situation, as stated above by another user

Lockheed Martin / LM released the update to the General Public, before sending the New UPDATE to all the developers , Go Figure !

FLIGHT 1 FORUM : http://www.simforums.com/forums/p3d-v4-2_topic59665.html

Heres what I found out so far ,,,,,,

User post Question:

is there any word on an "update" to the gtn packages and when they will be "compatible with v4.2" ?????

Another user posted :

Hello, just bought the "GTN complete for integration in the Carenado PC12",,,, which "DOES NOT" work on P3DV-4.2 :-( will this be addressed soon please ?????

Another users posts :

I was under the impression that the "update tool" was "supposed to take care of this", but from what I see, it "stopped receiving updates" at v. 3.4.9 and is not aware of v4 at all.

Flight Simmers who purchase PAYWARE Products will need to Hang on' to their "PURCHASE" information "for years to come" to get any NEW UPDATES from developers !

other wise NO FREE UPDATES !!!

as stated below by 1 developer

this just re-enforces my idea about waiting to convert from FSX to P3D. Once the updates slow down then I'll switch. I hope it's relatively soon but I can wait it out.

From the A2A B377 FORUM

A2A User asked this Question ?? :

" are you planning to "convert the B377",,, to P3D-V4?

sorry if this has been asked before. just getting ready to buy a new computer. and switch from FSX to P3D-V4. I love my 377 "!!

A2A LEWIS REPLY was :

" Yes, but "no definite plans or timescales".

Its on a "per plane basis" as the "FSX fleet will require varying amounts of work",,, to be moved and create P3Dv4 software.

thanks,
Lewis / A2A

From SCOTT at A2A states this :

Lockheed Martin Prepar3Dv4 rollout

We've brought on a new partner who is currently re-structuring our entire installation process so that it supports all the new technologies available, and this will help us roll out our entire Accu-Sim fleet to Lockheed Martin's Prepar3Dv4.

This is a rather slow and long process but it is moving forward.

The Spitfire MkI-II is still planned to be the first out the door leading the way for many more P3Dv4 releases in 2018.

This is fast turning into a thread on payware rather than P3D 4.2

I would like to know about problems with freeware addons. If any. Simviation is a site that is focussed on freeware.

I have downloaded 4.2 and tried to install in a different folder - thereby keeping 4.1 (which I love and don't want to lose)

However so far not working as it seems not to want to have 2 installs of V4 on the same pc ......... so though I have 'installed' 4.2 - there seems to be no way to run it and the version on my machine is still v4.1 ....
There is also no option to uininstall only 4.2 - only uninstall v4 which will probably uninstall 4.1 which is the last thing I want to do

Not the end of the world as I am quite happy to stick with 4.1 for the time being - it has huge potential in itself and I have very few bugs noticed.

Pete I have installed V4.2 and don't have problems with freeware previously installed.

It seems that sofisticated addons have problems. My point of view is that I play/fly with aircraft that I could manage alone in real life.

For instance Restauravia is adapting planes to V4 in the intended installation way, oustide of the simulator folder.

Some examples of freeware working OK:

Restauravia; Zephir, Magister and Mirage IIIB
Maryadi Osprey
Lagaffe C150
Dino Cattaneo; T45 and Macchino
Milton Shupe: AC560, DH60 Puss Moth, Beech18, Spartan
