BULLETIN about the latest PVD 3.2 UPDATE

Thought sum of you sim pilots out there might want to know about this beforehand

heres whats being discussed over at Air Daily X

** Orbx, ASN, and a few other developers need to catch up with the update. I ran into some "instability issues" and have reverted back to 3.1 for now.

READ the "COMMENTS" below the news release : http://www.airdailyx.net/fsnewsbreaker/2016/3/7/hold#commenting

might be best to hold off for a week or two maybe, before updating, give Developers a chance to catch up to the latest

You don't know how right you are!

I downloaded the update, and it worked perfectly. Then I shut down the computer.

Later that day I tried to start the computer and it was dead. D E A D!

Checked the power supply - OK.

Computer D E A D!

Removed my C: drive SSD and tested it on another computer - no problem.

So the Prepar3d Client Update K I L L E D my computer.

What I'm using, for now, is an OLD laptop that's so slow I feel like it's 1990 again.

Still, it lets me search for, and order, new components. Within a week I should have a $2000+ computer for about $1000.

I was setting up my new emuteq GNS 530 today and was using P3d V3.2. At one point I made a restart on the computer. It would not come on at all and was "dead". I played with it. I finally tried disconnecting the USB and power cable to the GNS and the computer started up as if nothing were wrong. I reconnected the cables to the GNS after the start. It worked OK from then on and I resumed using P3d V3.2.

Congratulations on your new build!!! The computer still won't start unless I disconnect the power cable and usb cable to the GNS. I can live with that. Post your specs when you get a chance. Bill

Interesting. :(

I have the DesktopAviator GPS, and now I'm wondering.

The buttons on yours are, I'm pretty sure, just USB. BUT is the monitor in it a VGA or USB monitor?

The reason that I ask is that I have two 9 inch USB monitors that have to be either turned off, or as you're doing - unplugged, when I want to start Prepar3d.

I did notice that Prepar3d was a bit faster after the update. Is it possible that P3d has changed some overall settings on our computers that take effect after a reboot?

Unfortunately, I've pulled it all apart in anticipation of the motherboard that's due next Monday.

I suppose that I'll have to rebuild it this weekend if possible.

Back in the early '90s I stopped playing most games on my computer for that very reason. The software companies were "tuning" your computer so that their games would play well.

The end result were other programs having problems or crashing.

It is a VGA monitor. I have played with the computer lately. I started it with the gps cables plugged in . It will finally start up after about 5 minutes. Just takes a long time!! mabye has something to do with the GPS monitor coming on line? I am still trying to get the GPS buttons set up in FSUIPC and can"t get them to work. I have them programmed in FSUIPC for the button presses.I just don't know what I'm doing!! I'll figure it out eventually before I die! I'm down here in Kent. Bill

KISS

I have the paid version of FSUIPC, but for my GPS I used the FSX/P3d commands.

This is an old post, but it still applies - GPS!!!! WHAT A DIFFERANCE THIS MAKES!

Essentially use this old FSX chart.

What button numbers your unit uses will, of course, be different.

I still just use the plain ol' FSX Acceleration / that came with 3 Disks,, nothing real special,,, BUT, I did do a major comprehensive scenery file change about 3 years ago of some of the scenery files, incouding all my moons, Grass, and runway textures and sky Textures, most of what I found on the internet FREEWARE

Then if needed Tweaked those myself

Goin on almost 6 years now and no problem with my FSX

NO REX, NO ACTIVE SKY, NO PREPAR 3D, NO JIMMMY JUMP JOHNS OR Constant updates , NO V.2, or V.17's had a few B-17's tho

I've had over 4,997 Aircraft that I've downloaded for my sim,,, some I tried out and other got kicked to the Sim Junk yard mostly Freeware older aircraft that were port-overs that just weren't , anyway,,,,

I'm NOT Flying as much as I was,,,, Spring is here, and lots to do this spring & summer,,,, and I've got kinda bored with Sim Flying,,,, so I'm kinda taking a break for several months,,, maybe a year,,, who knows,,,,

I still have 1 Video to finish up, maybe if I feel like it I'll finish it sometimes this year,, maybe,,,

ok - now that I've ran my lips,,, watch my computer or FSX,,,,,, go BONKERS

Over & Out 10-4 Roger, Roger comin' in for a Belly landing ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

",,,, and I've got kinda bored with Sim Flying,,,,"

All the more reason to switch to Prepar3d!

There's always a minor or major update. As soon as you update and fix the problems, it's time for another update - no time to get board.

After a week the situation got much better regarding the most critical addons for the simulator:
- FSUIPC was adapted from day one :)
- Active Sky Next is now fully compatible
- REX4 has been updated one or two days ago and now fully works with P3D 3.2
- OrbX has updated the ObjectFlow and the Libraries
- TacPack has been updated to bring P3D 3.2 to its full potential finally !
- With the P3D "Content" update, all addons which create a popup window in the sim (like the traffic control window) work again.

So the "hold off" notice, which was very valid in the first days after the update appeared, is now becoming obsolete, and this is a good thing :)

Aside from the oddity of my computer dying right after updating Prepar3d, I've no complaints.

Yes, there were a few, very minor, problems during the install. Right after the install though, it worked (briefly) very well.

From what I recall, it looked like the best version of Prepar3d that I've tried.

One of the things that I think most FSX users don't recall, were the problems that FSX, and they themselves, went through.

It really boggles the mind to think how complex a flight sim program is. This is a far cry from the relatively simple Lunar Lander of 35+ years ago.

The last part, the liquid cooler, of the new computer build is due today. Then the fun starts. :D
