intelligence, counterintelligence, and Prepar3d V3

Intelligence and counterintelligence agents search for any clues that may come to light.

Often, this information can come from the incidental and unintentional release of other information.

For instance, during the "cold war" the west knew how many people were in the soviet prisons and gulags.

How?

Well, the soviets released their population numbers. Very accurate numbers, they were proud to say.

They also were very proud to release the total number of voters that voted in their "elections".

Actually, voting was a requirement. And I suppose that if you didn't get your butt out & vote, then a vote was placed for you.

Of course prisoners were not allowed to vote.

Got it now?

Population minus Number of voters = Number of prisoners.

What does this have to do with Prepar3d V3?

But even a V2.6 or 7 would be helpful.

There is one more thought about going to V3.X - Orbx & other software providers.

Some companies have already said that when Prepar3d V3 comes out they will probably have to rewrite their old software to one degree or another.

Therefor they intend to charge for V3 compatible upgrades.

I beleive that Orbx said that there would be upgrade charges for the software that you have already bought.

As opposed to re-buying the software at full price. That would be a killer for most people.

So anyone interested in getting software for P3d may want to wait and see what the prices will be.

Me? I'll probably go ahead and upgrade.

Just something to think about. I suspect that it'll happen within the next month. Possible sooner.

Another SOLID hint about the upcoming release of Prepar3d V3.x.

This time from the Orbx site.

A huge concern I have for P3D V3

"We are testing V3 at present and have yet to make any formal announcement about whether we'll charge for V3 installers. My original comments were made well before V3 went to beta and was mostly based on the new version being a major architectural change. It's not, being more like a v2.6 truth be told."

Interesting times.

Really good info!

The ONE single thing that puts me off P3D is the need to repurchase the program with every new release -- rather than the option to upgrade if you've purchased the previous version.

..... What about children of non voting age? (Also -- The country is now called 'Russia' ... 'Soviet Union' went out the window many years ago..)

Just thinking about what would motivate me to purchase V3....mmm

Same as existing but better frames, no micro stutters, ooms or blurries....No I wouldn't buy that. These should be covered by free upgrade.

Better scenery, vectors and land class.......No, I already have the ORBX stuff.

Much improved and globally consistent terrain mesh with matching upgraded textures.........Yes. So long as it didn't make my PC explode. It would have to be a very big improvement though and Global.

Completely new features?......I wouldn't know where to begin speculating on that one. My P3D with my addons already has all the features I need. The combat folks could probably do with a few more bits and pieces though.

Why should that be any different to, lets say Having Microsoft Office 2010 & paying for Office 2013?

Maybe everyone is off base here thinking that P3D should have upgrade options as if it was a consumer product. Doesn't look like LHM thinks that way.

There's one thing that I KNOW will happen, that I dread.

The high pitched whine from all the silly gamers over at the LM Prepar3d web site.

It seems that none of them read the requirements. They just buy the sim, AND WHINE!

It's pitiful.

It's been quite a while since LM released much of anything.

What I'm thinking is that they may be correcting all of the little things that don't work all that well, hence the "It's not, being more like a v2.6 truth be told." bit.
