I for one think the cost is a little to high for myself. I can see where this product would be a good choice for the serious pilot but that is just a little to much for me. If I want to fly I will go signup at my local airport and get in the real thing I do have about 25 hours in a piper Cherokee. The flight lessons just got to expensive. And $200.00 is a lot of money for a game.

My advice to anyone wishing to get P3D is to get the Academic version - for most it will be that or nothing. So make it the Academic version rather than jack squat ..... <<r .

Hello garymbuska,

Here is a form that may help !

http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/to ... ademic-50/

This pretty well covers all aspects of prepar3d !

as far as cost - $10 a month is pretty cheap - and if you really like it - go for the academic version - You said You were taking Flying lessons - therefore You are a Student !

Just the fact that it is FSX that is alive - and is being upgraded - means it has potential ! It is every bit as good as Fsx and is being improved as We speak !

I plan to stick with it !!

Hi Bruno

Not aware of any demo or trial -- but remember P3D is basically FSX but it has been added onto bit by bit and as johnman says - it is in development from LM.

(But let's not forget FSX (..Steam) is also still alive, kicking and still being developed - just not by microsoft - & with a long potential in front of it too)

The difference I think is that P3D now has serious money behind it and is being developed in the direction serious flight simulation/pilot training/world scenery realism, etc.

The potential in both FSX and P3D, however, is virtually unlimited, with user/developer input. (we've been saying that since FS95 and before that I think .... 8-) )

I have enjoyed mine, overall it has better graphics and I am able to use most of my old FSX aircraft. Customer service is ok also. I start out with MS 2004 then FSX and Steam. It is very stable platform for me with little to no trouble .

Question:

Since it is LM doing the development and RCAF is using it, does it have a combat interface?
Is P3D going to be the newer version of CFS-CFS2-CFS3?

Just curious on whether we combat flight simmers might be looking at our CFS4....
