Aircraft mismatch error on multiplayer

im running vista and whenever i play on multiplayer, i get a 'aircraft mismatched' error. it says i am missing several B something planes and whatnot... and wont let me connect
my friend who ran the game on XP (from my disks i lent him a bit ago) can connect fine. whenever he creates and i join, or vice versa... whoever is connecting gets the errors
any ideas on what could fix this?

possible causes :
- unpatched versions (version 3.0 and version 3.1)
- add-on aircrafts; if you choose the whole aircraft directory to play with, that your friend or others don't have EXACTLY the same aircrafts the problem appears.
- modifications made to the aircraft's xdp, cfg, etc...
- OFF or MAW players rooms.

I mean to remember from posts at other boards that you can't play CFS3 multiplayer under Vista.

really? any reason why?
@ bzhyoyo... im fully patched to 3.1a and i am playing against someone who has the exact same aircraft and everything... so probably the vista
