Does anyone know how to edit the .air files for CFS3?  Is there a utility like the one that works for CFS1/CFS2??

Yes you can edit CFS3 airfiles.

Although there is a utility for doing it, personally I wouldn't bother cos CFS3's flight engine is so crap anyways.

In addition if you make even the slightest edit to a CFS3 airfile you will not get into multiplay because of the stupid file checker.

So all-in-all it probably isn't worth the effort.

I have spent hundreds of hours tinkering with CFS3 and come to the conclusion it is a very badly designed sim, in-fact probably is beta palmed off as a finished product.

arrowtalon,
if you are used to using AirEd for airfile editing from CFS1/2 days, you can use it to edit CFS3 files as well.
Though CFS3, like FS8&9, is severally updated plus it has a number of entries swapped from the *.air file into the aircraft.cfg which can be edited in notepad.
Other than that check http://www.mudpond.us/ and
http://www.avhistory.org/
Make sure to also check the AvHistory forum.
