Hosting A Game

Postby Nightwaves » Fri Aug 05, 2005 8:01 pm

Hello all,
I have been having problems hosting a game in the multiplayer area. I am able to creat a game, and get into it. Though it seems no else can (Or no one else wants too???....) I have been told that it may have to do with my firewalls, but I have those turned off during game play? If anyone knows what else I can try to get this to work, that would be great!!!
Anyone know, if CFS3 is down again?? I am not able to get into the multiplayer area as of date?
Thanks all!

Hi Bzhyoyo,
Yes. I have the Microsft Combat Flight Sim.3 Battle for Europe game.
I am able to play other on line games, that others have made up. I can set up my own game, and get into it, problem is no one else can get into it. As I have been told by many who have tried to enter into the game that I am hosting. The game that I would host is just the simple Dog Fight. 10 kills game over, only 6 planes to play.
Any help would be great! Thanks for writing.

I suppose then that you're using stock planes. Did you patch your game to v3.1?
Mismatches are caused by two things :
- differerent versions of the games (patched vs not patched)
- planes not exactly the same (caused by changes to the xdp of the planes or add-on planes).

Hope that explains how it works.

If you allow all the planes in your aircraft directory, chances are that one plane, if modified, creates the unability for others to join.

I am using the planes that came with the game. I also added the required patches that were needed including the one you mentioned, the v3.1.
I have not modified any of the planes.
Would it hurt the game if I reinstall the patches? If not, which patches would you recommend?
When I first got the game when it first came out, I had no problems at all hosting games.
Thanks again for your help, and time.
All the best

The problem is that some kids out there haven't patched and then wonder why they can't join.
Tell in the description of your game that your cfs3 is patched.

If it doesn't help, only a reinstall will cure that, I'm afraid.
Reinstalling the patches will not help, but I know a lot of add-ons that make cfs3 better. ;)

I also remember that I added the v3.1a patch for the bombers. Would that cause a problem?
I heard just today, what you had advised about reinstalling the CFS 3. If worst, comes to worst, I will do that, but for now I guess, as long as I am able to play in others games, that will do..
Thank you thought for all of your help, and time!
