Blue screen crash on exit from CFS3

Problem occurs when quitting after gameplay. No detectable link to type of mission/campaign, etc.  Possible link to duration of play, but not sure. All worked OK on old motherboard (Pentium 3 based) but not new one - Matsonic MS8147C with VIA chipset, AMD Athlon XP2500+, 512Mb RAM.

Have loaded latest motherboard drivers, ltried atest graphics drivers (nVidia GForce FX5600XT) - they flashed violently, so went back to previous set! Also loaded DirectX9.0c, set swap file to 1024 min, defragged, version 3.1 / No-CD, tried different screen resolutions.

Totally locks up on 'blue screen' - requires hard reboot to clear, then have to uninstall/clean directories/reinstall totally before can play again.

Just about had enough with this d**n game"!!

Oooh! I could kill this sim also from time to time!

The CFS 3.1 patch helps, along with the CD patch.

If it helps, I use 67.02 Drivers and have NO problems with CFS3 these days.

Something sounds amis in your CFS3 install, when you re-install, be sure to remove the CFS3 folder from your MY Documents folder, this has cured probs with me in the past.

Thanks for your reply - already using 3.1 NoCD

67.02 drivers?  Not sure what these are for?

Interestingly, we have just loaded a 3rd party concorde model into FS2002 which has been working for over a year and that now does the same blue screen of death act!

Surely someone else has had this problem? Please help!

Video card drivers.

I run 53.03 with my FX-5600.  Generally the lastest & greatest drivers are not optomized for older cards.

Would think so, too.
The latest that work properly with my FX5200 are the 56.72 drivers.
You can find older drivers here: http://www.guru3d.com
