Best Add-On Aircraft

Quite frankly, I haven't used a sim seriously in over a year, since it's all rather anti-climatic.  I still think one excellent aircraft would do the trick, so, to all of you who aren't dissatisfied with CFS3, what is graphically the best single engine add-on aircraft for CFS3?

Normally would just check Groundcrew or Avsim, but there are always those independent designers.  Power to 'em too! :-*

Scorpion, if you are into Spitfires you should definitely check http://www.avhistory.org/ and get yourself Zuyax's Mk5 and Mk14.
While you are there also grab Nanni's Fiat G-55.

Also, if you have a fairly decend PC try our Bf110g-4 nightfighter beta at http://www.groundcrewdesign.com/
in the garage corner.

I agree with Mathias, the Spit Vs and XIVs at AvHistory are the best around by miles. And with the latest AvHistory weapons pack they have authentic loadouts also.

Get the F4U-1a and F4U-4 from AvHistory. There's also an excellent KI-43 from the same site.

If you want something a tad different, go over to Sim-Outhouse and get the Curtiss Jenny and Taz's Fokker Eindecker (camoeindecker.zip). Peter Dowling also has an excellent set of sounds for CFS3 default and addon aircraft in the CFS3 Sounds section.

At Groundcrew, I recomend the Focke-Wuff Condor and the He111. They're not single engine but they're really well done.

I love flying Spits but I'm put off the Mk 14 by a niggly little feature that also occurs on several other of the newer aircraft. That is, when you move the joystick, you get the effect of head/body-movement as well, and the whole forward view, inside and outside the cockpit, moves with the joystick, around the axes of the aircraft. So, when in a dogfight you move the joystick slightly to, line up on the bad guy, your whole orientation gets upset and the baddie disappears out of the gunsight.

Maybe this is as it should be, not ever having flown an aircraft for real I don't know, but the stock planes and most of the other add-ons don't do it - so I fly them instead. It might be a good feature if this was made switchable, on or off.

This is actually a feature added by the designers to simulate the effect of G forces on a real pilot. To be honest it does not bother me but I know a lot of folks are not too keen on it and I understand the designer is looking at improving it. The best way around it is to fly from the HUD view as this is not affected by this feature.

I shall check them all out, spank you for the recommendations.

:D

 I'm actually hopeful with the P-63. ;D

I just got to wondering about AvHistory(Besides the fact I always call it AvSim).  Do they have some sort of page where you can preview their planes before downloading 'em?  They're not notorious for small file sizes, at least not to a dial-up user.
And does AvHistory have a crew, or are the planes made from various sources and AvHistory just serves as a congregating point?

PS: Mathias, just out of curiosity, when do y'all (GroundCrew) plan on completing the FW 200?  What I like best is flying civil aircraft in commercial fashion in Combat Simulators. ;D

Ps If you havent tried out the AC carriers over at
http://www.isoliti4gatti.com/index.htm, you don't know what you are missing.

From here you might want to get the carriers, the aircraft mods, and the midway mission it is really cool

I'm too lazy to get some better screenshots but here is a few
