HI all,
I am big cfs fan, but since I got CFS3 I can not get it to run. So bad in fact that I have shelved it 10 times...and have tried again. Would you believe I was a beta tester on this sim.During testing I never experienced this. UGH...this is frustrating. I have recently upgraded my vid card so once again i tried to install CFS3. I have read and done every tweak I can find and I'm still only getting about 15fps, :'( with drops to 2-3FPS. If I could just get it to stay between 13-15 I think i would be ok. I have even over clocked my card...same result. I feel my system should be able to run this program..any suggestions?

My system specs are:

Athlon AMD
1.10 GHZ
Geforce FX5200
512mb PLEASE HELP!!!

You should not be having problems. What settings are you running at? I would recommend 800X600 with the over all graphics at 4. Have aircraft at 5 and clouds at 1 with all the other options somewhere between 3 and 5.
Also get the no CD patch as this clears up a lot of the problems, as does the 3.1 patch. Good luck. ;)

I have a similar system to you BB1. There are sets of beta drivers from Guru3d.com. I'm using the Forceware 61.21 drivers and I found that they really helped with CFS3. I'm running CFS3 on a Duron 950mhz and get an average of 15fps. BTW, don't overclock your card, set it back to the way it was.

Also, in the CFS3Config, in the overrides tab, disable "Dual Pass Rendering" and "Intro Movie". Enable "High Resolution Z-Buffer". Under Texture Info, set "Aircraft Texture Pool" to "D3DPOOL_SYSTEMMEM". Also, set CFS3's screen res to match your desktop's.

I have overall graphics set at 3, Aircraft at 4, Terrain and Scenery at 3, Effects and Clouds at 2. Resolution is at 1024 x 768 x 32 with no AA and 8X AF.

Iroquois, set you's to 800X600 and put the clouds down to 1. The resolution will increase your FPS slightly for no real loss in graphics. The clouds are the biggest FPS eaters in history and they still look decent when set to 1. ;)
