No-CD patch

I'm running CFS3.1 on XPpro and have tried the No-CD patch from this site. When I attempt to start CFS3 with the patch icon I get a message telling me  that "common.dll" can't be found. Am I doing something wrong or won't the patch work on XPpro?

I was a fan of the no-cd patch, but I found out that you can not use it and put any MS patch into the game. MS sends a message on loading a patch. I put the no-cd into the game then tried to load 3.1 patch. It would not load. Removed the "no-cd" program, put the Old icon back and it the loaded the patch.

Maybe you didn't install it correctly. The patch is simply a replacement EXE file. It won't run unless you paste it into the CFS3 main directory. Back up the original first in case of problems.

You shouldn't have a problem with whatever OS you are running. It's a simple executable replacement. That's it. To be more specific, in the executable (hex) a few of the lines are deleted and a few lines of hexedecimal are replaced. It has nothing to do with whatever operating system you have whatsoever.  The replacement executable has to be put into your main sim folder (ie... C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator 3\). Make a new folder in that directory and move the original executable into that folder for save keeping (it will look identical to the no-cd replacement), and name the folder "backup" or whatever. Put the new executable into the main folder where the original executable was before. Now keep in mind that there are two versions of the no-cd crack out. Version 3.0 is for the version without the up-date. Version 3.1 is for the version with the update. If you are using the wrong one, your game willl not work. If you want to run the 3.1 update, you first have to put the original executable back in the original directory overwriting the no-cd crack. After you update the game to 3.1, follow above directions. If the no-cd crack does not work, or the game does not work after installing the no-cd crack, you did not follow the directions correctly, which means you have to start all over and follow the directions again.
