Novice help NEEDED!!!

Postby BumbleB » Sat Apr 17, 2004 9:42 am

I NEED some help!!!! I am a novice at CFS3. I have been trying to learn the sim for the past 2 weeks. I WAS pretty good at the ol' CFS1, but I can't get thru a ground attack mission in 3!!! When I approach the factory I get hit with the flak which cripples the plane, EVERY time. Is there some way that I can prevent this?? Any and all tips, for a novice, will be GREATLY appreciated.

Firstly, use the Hawker Typhoon.

Secondly, use bombs.

Thirdly, go into the target low and fast. Ideally you should be having to avoid the taller tree's around you. When your within 1000 yards on the target go up to about 500 feet, head straight for the target and release your bombs when your about 500 yards from the target. Once you've dropped your bombs climb to at least 1000 feet so you avoid the blast from your bombs which should hit the target at around the same time you fly over head. Once you know the bombs have detonated, hit the deck again and make your escape.

Remember to go as fast as possible, the faster you go the harder you are to hit and the less time you spend within range of the flak guns.

Good luck! ;)

You may have the AA set at Ace. This can be changed in both missions and QC to a lower setting. Set the AA to rookie and you will only be shot down on rare occasions. At the beginning of a RAF campaign the Typhoon is the better ground attack choice as is quickly buying a FW-190A5 when flying for the bad boys in black.

FIRST: DON'T get the Hawker Thyphoon, that thing is a timed bomb thats ticking your life away. Use the Tempest or the Spitfire.

SECOND: Two options:

Option #1: Go in low and fast, like less than 200 feet AGL, and 300+ M.P.H., I know this sounds like suicide but if you get it right then you will not get hit, I do it all the time. When you are near the target drop the bombs, I can't tell you when because its all insinct. After you drop it, then go into a 30 degree climb and get outta there.

Option #2: (If you do this you want something with a dive brake) Keep on climbing. Get your alt to above 15000 feet, so the flak is inaccurate and too low. Once your directly above the target, pull your trottle to 0% and full dive brakes and dive 90 degrees onto the target, once your 2000-1000 feet above the target then drop your bombs, wait half of a second before pulling up, then pull out of the dive, and DON'T climb, you want your AGA to be 0 and get your A** outta there.

THIRD: If you manage to miss the target, or just didn't do enough damage, then remember, DON'T go back in there. Tell your wingmen to attack, if you go back in, you will surely die, or have to fly back on manual.
