All i want to know is simply some tips & techniques for matching speeds. For example, i'm escorting an aircraft  and i want to maintain speed with him, and i want to stay as little as 40-60 ft away from him, but keep up. Any advice?

Use the VC. Fly along matching a point on the formation aircraft, and try to keep it in position in relation to your cockpit (pick a point which is a clear reference pointlike a marking on the canopy against their wing). It takes a little practice, but you'll master it in no time ;)

Constant fiddling with the throttle is needed to keep up and in formation. Get to the distance away you want to be then throttle back. When you see him slipping away again, add a bit of power to keep him in place. If your creeping up on him, throttle back a bit intill he's where you want him.
