Campaign Aircraft

Is it possible to make downloaded aircraft available within the campaign?

I have the B-17 and it doesn't show up in the US bomber campaign.  I also have the BF110 and that does work for the German AI, but not the player.

Any ideas?

Will. If they're not listed as Player aircraft on the Campaigns menu check out the entered_service= entry in the DP files. This should be listed under [MISC_DATA]
The date must be earlier than the date of the first mission in a campaign. If there's no [MISC_DATA] section, copy /paste this in from another DP.

The allegiance= entry is also important.
allegiance= (0 = Neutral, 1 = British, 2 = German, 3 = US, 4 = Japanese etc)

PS. Oops. I just spotted this is for CFS3. My comments are based on CFS2. I assume it's the same. ::)

Thanks Doug.  I'll try that and see what happens.

Will. I downloaded a 3rd party aircraft to check this out. The EnteredService date is in the DP file with an extra LeftService entry.

I'm clutching at straws with CFS3 as I really haven't the faintest idea of what I'm talking about. ::) ;)

So far that doesn't work.

I have tried adding the Model name of the B-17 in the Tech tree of the campaign XML file but no joy with that either.

Still trying...

Twas me being silly. ;D

The campaign that I was playing didn't recognise the B-17 but on starting a new one it did.

PS by renaming a copy of the default Tempest as P-299 I have made that available to the Americans.  Fun.

How do you add aircraft to the campaign tech tree?  I opened the XML file, but you can't put the cursor down anywhere.

Right click on it and open as a wordpad document and you can edit it.

I tried opening it in wordpad and adding the Bf110 to the tech tree, but when I tried to start a campaign the game sort of froze, but I could still exit properly.  I used the entered service date from the XDP file.
