The straffing parachute post was locked likely because it seems so barbaric.
Fire in The Sky, pg 524:
"The Japanese made it a practice to shoot Allied pilots in their chutes from the start of the war and never ceased the practice".
Lt Sam Logan, USN, Corsair pilot shot down by a Zero 7 June 1943.
He made the mistake of opening his chute at 20k.
A Zero was in the process of making its 3rd firing pass on him. Zero firing both guns, pilot trying to collapse his chute. "I didn't think to pull up my feet.

It's well knowen that some pilots where gunned down in the parachutes after they had bailed out. Any honourable pilot would not have shot at anyone in a parachute, and as you probably know, none of the great pilots did so.

As i said in my original thread... "Shooting Parachutes is a jerk thing to do..." and i do not condone it... i continued to state later in the same thread... "If i were to shoot someone down in REAL LIFE i would probably fly by and salute".
Obviously, and sadly there are some who seem to think that blasting "people" in these games is barbaric. Let it be known that I DO NOT CONDONE SHOOTING AT REAL PILOTS, IN REAL COMBAT, WHO HIT THE SILK. I have seen gun camera footage of pilots being straffed in their chutes and it makes me sick, however....REALITY CHECK... this IS a game (or simulator depending on your opinion) and i have no proplem with shooting ones and zeros at other ones and zeros. maybe some sane people can step up and back me up here. or if anyone wants to take the time to make the arrangments i will gladly be tried at a "Simulated" war crimes tribunal. after all i was flying as a NAZI at the time... wasnt i supposed to be the "bad guy"? :D

There are those that believe the J's and N's conducted warfare with honor? The facts are otherwise.
Or that the Allies did not respond in kind?
I don't know if the "great" aces did or did not gun victims in chutes.
It was an issue. Common in the Pacific when conditions permitted. Less of an issue in Europe.
WWII wasn't a sim.
