In the book it says that 20% of the time your parachute doesn't work and bailing out at over 250mph will kill you...I've done it at over 600 and many many times and never once have I died or the parachute failed...I'm sorry, but I want my guy to die when he jumps sometime...it would be funny...why doesn't he?...

You actually want your chute to fail ? I thought it happened a little too frequent in CFS2, especially if you had already been wounded. You could always delay opening your chute, that was fun in CFS2, but the CFS3 pilot seems to hit the silk automatically once you get down to 1000 feet, if you leave it long enough.(With the canopy open fully by about 700 feet.) He doesnt leave it up to you to decide whether he's making a hard or soft landing anymore, which is a pity...Though who can blame him ? :P. One thing I was a bit dissapointed with concerning CFS3 bailouts is...why is there no sound of rushing air, or a canopy opening ? Thats something definitely missing. I'm no expert on programming but I wonder if it might be possible to place these sounds in somehow by adding triggers ? The opening canopy sound was there in CFS2...if i remember correctly. Another thing is...does anyone know the minimum altitude allowable for a jump ? I could check the manual but I'm too lazy.

In the old DID's Total Air War F-22 (TAW) combat flight simulator you could bail out and then fail to open the chute and the pilot would hit the ground with a "splat" sound and leave a big red spot there. And sometimes he would hit the ground and animate by beating his arms and legs on the ground like a child having a temper tantrum and then die, again leaving a red spot on the ground. I hate to admit it but it was funny!

I guess this has become politically incorrect in the "enlightened" culture of today's combat flight simulators.

I can't remember what the height limit is in CFS3 as I haven't played for a while and had to jump, and I can't be bothered to hunt through the mess on the desk either right now.
I have a theory about the pilots jumping, maybe they are all equipped with BODs (Barometric Opening Device), most freefallers these days have one just in case....

well...I think the hight requirement for bailing is in Altitude...all your guages read elevation...

woudn't be bad to have the height requirment in elevation though...if you landed on some high point, you could just jump out...

Anyways...has ANYONE ever died while bailing out?...
