Well then!

Thanks Sock, I'm glad you like it.  It's been about 24 hours now, and the RIAA hasn't broken down my door, so perhaps I'll post some more in the furute.

I have tried to replace the music with my own wav files and it doesn't seem to work for me.  I have used yours and others and they work just fine.  Would you be able to tell me the parameters of saving the sound files so that they play properly so that I can use some I have created?

Thank you.

I use Glen Miller's American Patrol as background music. I thought it fit best for the era in which CFS3 takes place. Makes you feel as though your in the USAAF in 1943.

Codered,

Hello.   I'm glad you were able to get my sound file to work... I had to do a bit of experimenting before I found the proper format to use for CFS3 sound files myself, so...

Basically, they need to be this:
Sample Rate: 22050 Hz
Resolution: 16-bit
WAV Quality: 68
Now, this applies not only to the Ui Music, but all CFS3 sound files.  The "quality" setting can be adjusted though, it's just that CFS3 files are 68 by default.  There's one peculiar thing however, and that is that some files are mono, while others are stereo.  There's no particular pattern to this, other than that things that are close to you ("you" meaning you in the plane's cockpit) are likely to be in stereo: landing gear, flaps, machine guns, and cannon.  Sounds that are further way from you, such as bombs exploding, AI aircraft engines, other planes crashing, tend to be in mono.

When I mess about with CFS sound files, I like to use Cool Edit Pro 2.1.  It's an incredible Audio Editing program.  However, it's expensive, unless you find a way to steal it online... which I most certainly did not!  ::)

    cheers

    Hello,

I had accidentally removed the file when I was rearranging some things on my site.  The file is back in place now.  I don't understand why this post is suddenly back on the front page!  Oh well.

    cheerio.

I'm downloading Edith_Piaf.zip now, slow dialup... ::)

Just wanted to say for anybody who doesn't have Cool Edit Pro 2.1., well if you have a Soundblaster card installed, chances are the Windows Start button lists "Creative" under which is a little utility which will allow saving any .wav file into Goose's new parameters. ;D

Tu Es Partout: Way cool tune, even sounds like the Victrola tonearm remains in the runout grooves for 5 seconds at the end!

(The creative utility is "wave studio" on my system).

I got it!  Have you ever seen that Chips Ahoy commercial with the CG exlamation point dancin' around chocolate chips cookies?  Well that big band song would be great for CFS3!  There is a free program called Audacity that's pretty darn good.  Off I go to the editing room... ;D

I don't have a music editor program, but just to give an id for a few songs that would fit great : the soundtracks of "Band Of Brothers". Sure u must have seen or heard about this mini serie... .well I have the CD with soundtracks and I think they would all fit in GREAT !!!
Most of them have no lyrics but just beautiful piano and violin. I think "The mission begins" would fit the best. Or the last one on the CD: "Band of Brothers Requiem"....
Anyway, maybe u could give it a try and even if u don't wan't them in CFS, the songs are beautiful.
