Does the AI have an advantage?
Does the AI have an unfair advantage? I was just messin' around in free flight, and I started a dogfight between a P-51B (me) and a P-47D (AI). Everyone knows that the AI always climbs sooner or later, but the Jug is a horrible climber. It it's worst characteristic, it can dive but it can't climb for beans. Well, I was dogfighting this Jug for a while before he pulled up, I thought I had him...I'm closing in and I start firering at about 250 yards, and I see hits dance across his fuselage. But I takes a lot to bring one down. He keeps climbing as my Stang stalls out and I fall back down. I watch him climb a little more, and then he turns over and stays at that altitute as if he didn't lose any airspeed! But that's impossibe! A P-47 can't out-climb a P-51! I've also dogfighted between the Me-262 and the P-80. I've flown both in combat and noticed that the Me-262 has a better turning radious. But this doesn't seem to effect the AI...While flying a 262 the P-80 always seems evenly matched, and when flying the Star, the 262 seems to have to much of an advantage. What happened? Does the AI have an advantage?
But the 'laser' guns aren't that bad if you don't stay on a constant turn or whatever. Unless of course the gun is a 40 mm or so.
Look out then!I would say you're not crazy; I was in a 262 vs. a P-55 on rookie level, and he still managed to climb just as high as I could after going into about a 80* climb to escape him. Kind of ridiculous. Makes it seem more like a game than a simulation. The worst thing though, is that even after the lessons of CFS2, your wingmen still... well... suck. :-/
